Psoriasis skin disease is a chronic disorder that mainly affects the skin. It can occur at any age in both men and women and can differ in frequency, duration and severity depending on the skin type. 2) Avoid usage of harsh products
Usage of harsh products like deodorant soaps, laundry soaps or lotions containing alcohol can further lead to more intense itching and inflammations. Good psoriasis skin care also requires usage of softer or less irritating cotton-based clothing.
3) Keep Skin Moist
Moisturizing will help in reducing scaling, cracking, redness, dryness, itching and soreness.
4) Reduce Stress
Practicing stress management techniques like meditation, yoga, exercise or positive thinking can help to reduce psoriasis lesions to a great extent. A proper check on right eating habits, adequate amount of sleep, more fluid intake and adequate intake of vitamin D derivatives also helps to fight off psoriasis skin infections.
5) Regular Baths
A regular bath with Luke warm water using a mild soap helps to reduce itchy spots and prevent further drying of skin. You can add oil, Dead Sea Salt or Epsom in bathing water for soothing purpose. After your bath, avoid rubbing your skin. Rubbing can further damage the existing lesions and can also cause new lesions.
6) Avoid Smoking and Drinking
Avoiding drinking and smoking may reduce psoriasis flares and will prevent further triggering of red dry flakes.
Psoriasis skin disorder is not an infection and therefore is not contagious. However it can be inherited. There are certain genes that make the person more vulnerable to develop psoriasis skin infection. Most of the people does not face much problem with psoriasis skin disorder and can function normally.
